On 29^th and 30^th May 2024, Sawit Kinabalu Group recently hosted its Supplier Engagement Workshop at the Borneo Royale Hotel, Tawau. Participants were comprised of internal and external suppliers of Sawit Kinabalu Group. The workshop aims to brief on the latest sustainability requirements, industry commitments, and relevant risk mitigation and reporting tools and foster collaboration between suppliers and Sawit Kinabalu Group. The workshop started with opening remarks from Datin Stella Ambrose, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Sawit Kinabalu Group who acknowledged the supplier’s commitment and valued their contributions in implementing sustainable measures that promote environmental stewardship and social responsibilities.

The workshop was facilitated by Proforest Sdn Bhd, an organization with over twenty years of experience in supporting responsible production and sourcing practices that focus on the production base and supply chains of agricultural and forestry commodities. The workshop also had a session with the representatives from the Sabah Jurisdictional Approach for Sustainable Palm Oil Initiative (JASPO) that shared about the Sabah state government’s commitment towards a jurisdictional approach for Sabah being 100% certified sustainable palm oil under RSPO certification by 2025. Other than that, MPOCC (MSPO) representatives were also present and took the workshop participants on the latest Malaysian palm oil sustainability requirements through MSPO 2.0.

The workshop concluded with the upcoming EU Deforestation Regulations (EUDR) and other traceability practices. Participants were briefed on the best methods for collecting Traceability to Plantations (TTP) practices and how to make sure the data quality was valid and verified.
