Encik Salim bin Mohamad
Group Managing Director
Malaysian,
aged 53, is the Group Managing Director of Sawit
Group. He graduated with a Diploma in Agriculture from Universiti
Pertanian Malaysia (now known as Universiti Putra Malaysia) in 1976
and a Master Degree in Science majoring in Agriculture from the
University of Agriculture, Bogor, Indonesia in 1983.
He began his career with SLDB on 1 June 1976 as
an Assistant Estate Manager. His career advanced through the years
when he was promoted as Junior Estate Manager on 21 February 1983,
Estate Manager on 1 April 1984 and Group Manager on 1 November 1984.
On 1 September 1985 he was promoted as a Regional Manager for the
Sandakan Region and eventually the Lahad Datu Region. He was promoted
as Controller of Estate on 10 January 1995 and assumed the position
of Deputy General Manager (Operations). On 1 March 1995, he undertook
the responsibility of Deputy General Manager (Personnel & Admin).
Upon Corporatisation of SLDB in 1996, he assumed the post of Controller
of Human Resource and Special Functions. On 8 February 2001, he
was redesignated to Controller of Estates. He was appointed Acting
Managing Director in July 2003.
He serves as Director in all of Sawit subsidiaries.
Elected as President of the East Malaysian Planters’ Association
(EMPA) in April 2004 and was appointed as Board Member of the Malaysian
Palm Oil Board in May 2004.
