Nature of Business

Sawit Groups’ business activities are integrated such as the following: -

Cultivating, processing, procuring and trading of oil palm products such as Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB), Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and Palm Kernel (PK).
Involve in other oil palm related activities namely operating palm oil mills, bulking installation, seed production and in the process of implementing physical refinery and PK crushing plant.
Provide consultancy, advisory and management services in agronomic, plantation and milling.

Plantation

Currently, Sawit Group has 72,692 hectares of planted area throughout Sabah in the following regions:-

Mill

Sawit Group owns and operates 8 palm oil mills at a total milling capacity of FFB 440 MT/HR. These mills can process more than 2 million tonnes of FFB per year.

Downstream Business Activities

Refinery Complex

Our refinery complex is registered as Sawit Edible Oils Sdn Bhd
Ground breaking ceremony was held in Kunak, Tawau in September 2002, and is expected to be commissioned in June 2006.
The refinery complex comprises of a physical refinery with a capacity of 1,500 MT of CPO per-day and also a kernel crushing plant (KCP) which is capable of processing 400 MT PK per-day.
The products of a physical refinery range from RBDPO, RBDPO-olein, RBDPO-stearin and PFAD.
The product of KCP will be PKO and PKE

Upstream Business Activity

Seed Production Unit (SPU)

Located in Apas Balung, Tawau Region, SPU is capable of producing Five Million (5,000,000) oil palm superior quality DxP germinated seeds per year. The quality of seed is assured and certified by both SIRIM and MPOB. Currently SPU is supplying seeds within and outside the Company. The future plan is to extend supply to BIMP-Eaga Regions.

This activity was initiated in collaboration with the State Department of Agriculture (DOA). SPU leases the mother palms from Ulu Dusun Research Station of DOA, in Sandakan.

The collaboration plays a vital role for Sawit Group to venture into commercial seeds production apart from supplying the Group's planting requirements.

Central Laboratory

Situated in Apas Balung, Tawau, Sawit Group's Central Laboratory is an accredited laboratory certified with SO/IEC 17025 effective July 2002.

Advisory Services

Advisory Services on fertilizer recommendation, pest and disease control, feasibility study and other related agronomic services are available to serve the estates outside the Group.

Sawit Cattle

Sawit breeds Brahman cross cattle in its estates, and these cattle are from Australia with certification from the Australian Brahman Breeders Association. These cattles are produce for local and regional supply through sustainable and environmentally friendly approach with stringent guidelines from MPOB and DOVSAI.
